On Wednesday Feb. 15, the Healthy U organization held the “Eating on the Run Program” in the Wilson Formal Lounge at noon. Multiple different flyers and packets were handed for extra assistance after the event.
The Healthy U events are open to anyone who would like to attend. Students and faculty were there for the whole duration of the event.
Britta Stackwick, a member of the Healthy U organization and committee for about three years, helped organize the event. She said that the Healthy U organization has been a part of Fisher for about five years and will still be continuing to have events to help students develop healthier eating habits and lifestyles.
“The event is for students to learn how to eat better, eat healthy and we are really pushing healthy eating and healthy lifestyles, Stackwick said. It’s showing how to eat on the run… not to… grab something unhealthy so it’s basically doing that.”
The specific event was held at Fisher about two years ago prior to the current event. Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield has sponsored the event.
The Healthy U organization also handles events at the Lackmann Culinary Services. “We had Cooking with Joel, the Lackmann head chef, he puts on cooking demonstrations for healthy eating and how to make different menus,” Stackwick said.
Crystal Guilan, the Stewardship coordinator for the Institutional Advancement office at Fisher, heard about the event from the mass email that was sent to all faculty and staff.
She has never been to a Healthy U event before. “I am actually having my wedding in June so I’m trying to be more healthier and eat better and learn more about that and trying to get my fiancee healthier so we can live longer,” Guilan said.
Guilan insisted that she will continue to attend events similar to this one.
