The men’s basketball team went 2-1 on on a three-game road trip against fellow Empire 8 foes.
Fisher is now 9-1 in the Empire 8 after dropping its first conference game, but still holds a healthy 14-5 overall record.
The Cardinals started the road trip off by dropping a tough one 75-67 at Nazareth. Alex Sausville and Keegan Ryan had 17 and 15 points respectively in the loss. The Golden Flyers enjoyed strong offensive performances by their two top players, Brandon Wind and Tyler Stenglein, with 17 points each.
A key factor in the game was Nazareth’s ability to get scoring from its bench with two reserves scoring in the double digits. The Golden Flyers are now 7-3 in the Empire 8 and 13-6 overall.
The Cardinals were able to bounce back against Ithaca in a tightly contested 87-83 victory. Ryan contributed a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Jake Haight also joined the double-double party with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Ithaca has fallen to 8th place in the conference with 2-8 Empire 8 record and 6-13 overall.
Fisher then finished the road trip on a strong note defeating Hartwick 70-59 and solidified its place heading into the weekend at first in the Empire 8 standings with a one game lead over Stevens Institute of Technology. Hartwick is now 5-5 in the Empire 8 and 12-7 overall.
Keegan Ryan and Ryan Henderson each added 20 points in the win. Ryan has clearly been the Cardinals top performer as of late, and is on pace to earn a heavy dose of awards come season end.
Fisher now prepares for a home contest against Utica on Saturday at 4 p.m.
