The Cardinals fell short in back-to-back games for the Mark’s Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout before what will be a long break in action.

On Dec. 2, the lady Cardinals fell to the 11-ranked University of Rochester Yellow Jackets 72-49.

Initially, Fisher took an early 8-7 lead as junior Nicole Robinson sunk a jump-shot, but it was quickly followed up with a Rochester three where they would take the lead for good.

Freshman Chlesea Repard tried to keep things interesting as she converted a driving layup to put Fisher within six points midway through the second quarter. This resulted in a 10-point Rochester run, making it 32-22 at the half.

While baskets were traded throughout the third quarter, Rochester led 48-36 going into the final stanza, and Rochester opened up the flood gates.

As Robinson scored the first four points of the fourth quarter, the Yellow Jackets went on for an 8-0 run which eventually resulted in a 19-point deficit for the Cardinals.

Caroline Robertson led the Cardinals with 14 points while Jessica Rhone and Robinson scored 11 points and eight points respectively.

Fisher returned to action quickly hosting the RIT Tigers the next night. The Cardinals lost a heartbreaking overtime thriller 80-82.

RIT took its first lead of the game before a Robertson sank a running jumper which regained Fisher’s momentum. The Cardinals would go on an 8-0 run to lead by six, but consecutive three pointers by RIT forced overtime.

As the Cardinals trailed for most of overtime, they could not convert on key plays which would have taken the lead.
