During the Fall 2016 semester, the Fisher Players performed the play Grease on Nov. 18 through Nov. 20.

Taylor Sanders, the director of promotions and community relations, directed the fall musical for her first time. Sanders said, “this is the first one that I ever directed so it was really cool to see everything from an off stage point of view and be able to take what I know about theater and guide everyone on stage.”
On the opening night, Cleary Auditorium reached max capacity, which is 400 people. In that one night, the club sold 220 regular tickets totaling around 1,100 dollars.

Sanders said, “We had 250 chairs so we hit 250 people. The doors opened at 6:30 p.m., so around 6:40 p.m. people were already in, so we had to go over to Wilson Formal and get more chairs, we had to go to Golisano Gateway and get more chairs and that let us to hit around 400 students and community people in the building.”

This year the club focused on more advertising. Posters were hung all over campus and was on every floor in Ward and Haffey halls. Sanders said, “Our goal was to hit every aspect so we wanted to be on print, it was all over the school. We showered the campus with those. We had access slide going on all the school computers and we were obviously all over social media.”

Joe Gala, a freshman at Fisher, has been in plays ever since his junior year of high school. This semester he played the part of Danny Zuko. He absolutely loved doing the play and never experienced anything like it before. Also, he really liked the process of the advertising and being a part of the photoshoot.

Gala said, “I think that the environment, the low key atmosphere that Fisher Players provides, is so comfortable that’s definitely a big difference from what was like at my high school.”

Gala was shocked that he was selected to be one of the lead roles. Talking about Sanders, he said “She really gave me a big opportunity. It was something really huge that you just don’t give out to anyone and you have to have a lot of faith in that person. I really appreciate that she did that for me.”
