The week of Nov. 18-21, multiple events happened every day for the Social Media Week (SMW). Some events were “Brand Yourself Workshop,” “Jobs in Social Media Panel” and the “Alumni Networking Event.”
On Fri. Nov. 18 at 1 p.m., the event of “Do’s and Don’ts of Social Media” took place at the room 105 of the Wegmans School of Nursing. Pizza and soda was offered at the event.
The event discussed the proper etiquette for everyday life or in a professional aspect. The event was conducted by Ashley Grates, the director of account services in the public relations, (PRIMA) Group.
Grates said, “For our project we had to plan out every single day, all the different days and what we would accomplish every single day then this semester. Four of us came together and talked about who would be a good speaker at this panel.”
She also said, “It was open to anyone and if they are interested in this type of topic because it was perfect, students got to hear from experts in the Rochester community talk about their jobs and what they do and what they expect.”
Students from Fisher and Nazareth attended the hour-long event. The Nazareth students were Alexa Macri and Nicole McGreevy, both business students.
McGreevy said, “We came here today to do one of the workshops for Social Media Week about the Do’s and Don’ts of social media. We could go to any event, it’s just for extra credit for our writing for digital media class.”
Grates said, “This is the first time doing SMW, but it will be occurring for many years to come.”
