St. John Fisher families took over campus this past Hallo-weekend for Family Weekend. Friday, Oct. 28 through Oct. 30 held an assortment of activities for parents and siblings to take part in.
The weekend started on Friday, when SAB held Fisher’s very own Casino Royale night. SAB turned Cleary Auditorium into one of the only casinos within a 10-mile radius that night. Students and their families enjoyed playing games, and winning prizes.
Saturday was full of events beginning with the Teddi Trot 5K and ending with the Illusionist, Elliot Zimet. It was an also a very busy day for Fisher athletics, with Football defeating Ithaca 34-17, Men’s Soccer falling short to Ithaca 2-1, and both the men and women’s basketball starting off their seasons with their first scrimmage. All games were played on campus, making it convenient for all families to watch whichever game they wanted to. A hospitality tent was provided with food and drinks for all visiting parents and siblings.
On Sunday, the Fisher Players held a Murder Mystery brunch for all families visiting. The Murder Mystery brunch was an improvisation performance, where the cast interacted with the families so they can guess “whodunit”! The weekend ended with the Buffalo Bills vs. the New England Patriots game watching party in Mainstage.
“I had an amazing weekend with my family,” said Meghan Lescinskas, a freshman. “I live in Boston, so I rarely get to see my parents since home is far away. I actually haven’t seen them since I left for school in September, so it was great having them come up.”
It was a weekend of showing parents and siblings what the Fisher Family is all about.
