Fisher Cares hosted the annual Healthy Living Sustainability Fair as a way to provide students with information on knowledge of healthy living and proper environmental practices. The Healthy Living Fair took place on Thursday Oct. 8, during free period in LeChase Commons.
Participants provided insight into such subjects as Holistic Medicine, Sexual Health, Pollution Prevention, Sustainable Food Practices, Environmental Sustainability and more. Each provided their own unique flavor, including complimentary massages provided by the representatives of the New York Chiropractic College.
“We’re just out here getting the word out that we offer free chiropractic work to students,” said Marty Rueckert, student clinician at New York Chiropractic College. “There’s a lot of students that have low back pain, muscle strains and sprains, that can’t afford care so we just want the community at St. John Fisher to know that we offer free care for students.”
The event also included a stand for Lackmann’s Farmer’s Market, which offered locally grown and fresh produce. Lackmann Dining Services are the primary food suppliers on campus to dining areas such as Ward-Haffey Dining Hall, Cyber Cafe, and Fishbowl.
Nate Fuller, freshman, provided his own take on the event, saying that, “It was really fun actually. There was a lot of things to learn about sustainability and all the initiatives that are going around locally.”
