Wing Fest took flight Friday, Sept. 30 at the Campus Center Quad. Two-thousand plus of the famous Buffalo snack were served to a variety of happy students attending the first of what is to be a planned annual event.

Julie Ciardi, Large Event Coordinator for the Student Activities Board, borrowed the idea from SUNY Brockport with the goal of bringing all types of students together.

“It was not easy, but it was worth it,” Ciardi said. “Hosting the event with alumni required a lot of communication including with local businesses.”

“I wanted to it be the last hurrah before fall, almost like a big picnic that could bring the college together,” added Ciardi. The timing of the event happened to fall on Alumni and Homecoming weekend, which added to the excitement of the festival.

Also featured was a mechanical chicken wing which challenged riders.

“I stayed on longer than I thought,” said Ciardi, “but there was a graceful fall at the end.”

Overall the event was a success. Ciardi graduates this year but hopes that SAB will make Wing Fest an annual occurrence. SAB tries to bring a variety of activities to campus. They are open to suggestions from students on what activities should be on campus. You can email them at
